Vintage Bokeh Test on Cute Frog-Like Creature
Zhelong Xu showcased their Blender skills.
Digital artist Zhelong Xu presented Kappa's Blue Dream, a sweet Blender project depicting a creature that will likely remind you of a ceramic frog figurine.
With help from ZBrush, the artist made it look adorably sad, an emotion highlighted by the vintage bokeh effect Xu tested using Cycles.
"Bokeh is the quality of out-of-focus or 'blurry' parts of the image rendered by a camera lens," Photography Life explains and gives great examples that you should check out if you're interested in the different camera effects you can use in 3D projects.
In Xu's work, bokeh enhances the environment with its bubble-like visuals, creating a humid atmosphere, fitting for the character.
Xu is a master of intricate designs and creatures, including dragons, bugs, and an occasional Headcrab, which you can find on their ArtStation.
