Blizzard Entertainment, the developer behind the popular Warcraft franchise, is open to the idea of creating more Warcraft movies, provided they partner with a filmmaker who truly understands the essence of the franchise.

The statement came from John Hight, the Director of the Warcraft franchise and Vice President for World of Warcraft at Blizzard Entertainment, , in a recent interview with IGN during the Game Developers’ Conference in March

Hight addressed the potential for future Warcraft movies. While he admitted the prospect was "certainly interesting," he emphasized that Blizzard's primary focus remains on game development.

"We make games and I think that games will always be our core, and so Warcraft will be centered around that,” Hight stated.

He also expressed openness to collaborations with professionals who understand the Warcraft universe and can bring interesting ideas to the table. However, he also acknowledged the challenges in finding the right partner.

"...I think if we found the right partner, found the right situation, especially if they have a proficiency in a game genre that we really don't, I think that'd be the ideal partner for us to work with and we're open to that," he said.

Despite the interest in expanding the reach of Warcraft, Hight emphasized the importance of balanced growth and serving their existing audience. He expressed interest in leveraging partnerships with other companies that share their passion for Warcraft, uphold their belief in quality, and have the capability to execute their vision. Nevertheless, he admitted that the list of potential partners fitting these criteria would likely be quite small.
