Watch This Dragon Scratch Its Back Against Tree In 3D
Dmitrii Kolpakov has documented his progress on a new animation.
Dmitrii Kolpakov, known to many as the creator of reParent, a versatile tool for animators in Maya, has spent the past week working on a dragon animation, sharing his progress and behind-the-scenes thoughts along the way.
The project quickly gained widespread support, with the community eagerly following Dmitrii's dragon adventure. You can check out the latest version above, and if you're curious about technical details, here's how Dmitrii described his approach to animating the wings:
"I've made base keyframe animation, after that used Aim from reParent for the first wings controls to make base overplapping action, then used Overplapper for all the other wings controls.
After that, I corrected the wings using animation layers to create collision effects with the ground. And some polish using Aim and Global options from reParent."
Check out how the project took shape below:
Dmitrii said, "Now back to the dragon mines," so it looks like more dragons are on the way.
