Xbox & IKEA Are Partnering On New Gaming Furniture Collection
Would you like a D-pad cushion?
This is probably a collaboration you didn't expect, but it might be one you didn't know you needed, especially if meatballs or hot dogs are part of the deal. In a joint post, Xbox announced that it is partnering with Swedish furniture giant IKEA on a new line of furniture aimed at gamers.
We don't know exactly what will be included in the collection yet, but the teaser showed at least two items. One looks like a cushion based on the familiar D-pad, and another appears to be a giant analog stick. No specific details about pricing or a launch date are known yet either.
Those attending gamescom next week (us included) will probably get to see what Xbox and IKEA have been cooking up in person. Some images are already making the rounds online, such as the render below. But since gamescom is still ahead of us, it's best to remain skeptical of anything that hasn't come directly from Xbox or IKEA.
Xbox has been pretty busy with collaborations this week as it celebrates its 25th anniversary: it's also teaming up with McDonald's, giving Halo, Fallout 76, Forza Horizon 6, Overwatch, World of Warcraft and Candy Crush fans in the UK and Ireland the chance to try themed menu items and grab some in-game exclusives.
"What excites me about this partnership is that we're bringing parts of these iconic gaming worlds to life, giving fans the chance to experience food they have only ever seen on screen. As a huge Fallout fan, I'm most excited for the Blamco Cheesy Potato Bites", said McDonald's Chief Marketing Officer Tim Kenway.
