Xbox Sales Jumped 76% in UK After Starfield Launch & New Xbox Series S

This was a very profitable week for Microsoft.

A new version of the Xbox Series S and the Starfield launch drastically increased console sales for Microsoft in a short time.

A new report from GfK (via GamesIndustry.biz) states that Xbox Series S and X sales jumped 76% week-on-week for the seven days ending September 2. That was the most successful week for the hardware this year, according to GfK games boss Dorian Bloch.

If you missed it, here is the deal: you can now buy Xbox Series S Carbon Black with 1TB of memory. As the report says, this version accounted for 24% of all Xbox sales during that week. The following week saw the console take up 20% of sales.

However, we can't expect only this new Series S to be responsible for the spike. Starfield has attracted millions of players and even surpassed Skyrim's peak player count on Steam, so it definitely had a hand in the deal, resulting in the Xbox Series X sales increasing 46% for the week ending September 2.
