If you've ever felt nostalgic for the era of classic Microsoft operating systems, you now have a chance to revisit the familiar look of Windows 7 and Windows Vista. A Windows enthusiast has made this possible by creating installable versions of these systems, though there are a few limitations to keep in mind.
Modder Bob Pony has released ready-to-use ISO files for both Windows 7 and Windows Vista. The operating systems include the latest updates available for each version. Regarding Windows Vista, the most recent updates date back to January 2026 and were delivered through the Premium Assurance program.
On X/Twitter, Pony explained how he managed to make these operating systems usable again:
It's worth noting that Microsoft no longer provides official support for these operating systems, including regular security updates. As a result, systems running them may not be adequately protected against modern malware and security threats.
Recently, Microsoft started solving the issue of the January Windows 11 update that is preventing some PCs from booting, requiring manual recovery.
