Zen Studios, the renowned developer behind Pinball FX and other pinball games that belong to the company, has been hit by layoffs. On October 14, Adam Dienes, the Community Manager who used to work at the company, shared that he, along with more than 30 other colleagues, had been cut off on October 13 as a result of video game downsizing. If we have a look at the developer's LinkedIn, we can see that Zen Studios lists 83 employees, which means that the staff has been reportedly reduced by nearly half.

"The video game downsizing caught up with me too: on Friday the 13th, I was fired from my current job together with more than 30 other colleagues, so I have to look for a new place. If anyone knows of any possibilities, please let me know - even an RT can help," wrote Adam on Twitter.

Following Zen Studios' acquisition by Embracer in 2020, which has been implementing widespread layoffs for months, the recent cuts can be attributed to the collapse of a $2 billion deal with Savvy Games. As a result, Embracer initiated a restructuring program that has led to project cancellations, job reductions at various recently acquired studios, and even the closure of certain studios within its portfolio.

GamesIndustry.biz has contacted the studio for comment and in reaffirmation of previous statements, a spokesperson has acknowledged that the company's ongoing restructuring program will include studio closures and project terminations. Also, the representative added that they wouldn't go into further details and refused to name the specific studios.
