3DGS has been used by many artists to preserve memories, such as Jörg Kahlhöfer's snowy streets of Hamburg or Azad Balabanian's old Toyota 4Runner, but Krzysztof Szkoda went a little further into history.
Normally, 3D Gaussian Splatting requires multiple images. Krzysztof used SHARP, a project that reconstructs a single image into a 3D environment using the depth and focus data from the shot. The artist then imported it into Blender using the KIRI Engine add-on. If you work with photogrammetry and Blender, you might be interested in the new free release from KIRI Engine called Mesh Wrap.
