A Closer Look at Hairstyle Modeling For an Anime-Like 3D Character

Even complicated hair looks simple when you look at each individual strand.

Kensyouen_Y, a talented 3D Modeling Artist specializing primarily in anime-style 3D characters, has embarked on creating their "next child" and recently provided a closer look at the hairstyle modeling process behind the character.

Set up in Maya, the coiffure in question comprises around 30,000 triangles and, at first glance, appears quite complex. In a subsequent demo, however, the artist showed that the hairstyle consists of several individual parts, with the ends of each part being split and tweaked for added variety, proving that "even complicated hair looks simple when you look at each strand."
