A Fallout-Like Environment Made Using Photogrammetry & UE5

Have a look at this post-apocalyptic scene, created by Daniel Cormino in 3ds Max and Unreal Engine 5.

3D Environment Artist and Unreal Engine Generalist Daniel Cormino has demonstrated an amazing post-apocalyptic environment with Fallout and Mad Max vibes. According to the artist, the goal for this project was to achieve a good workflow for 4k resolution. To achieve the goal, the author needed to develop fast and high-quality modeling and texturing techniques that would be tweakable if necessary.

The project's description claims that it was made in 3ds Max, Substance 3D Painter, and Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, Daniel used photogrammetry-based assets and Megascans assets for set dressing, editing the ready-made assets to match with the overall style of the scene.

"I used 3ds Max's modifier stack heavily to allow myself to detail the meshes while still being able to go back and tweak," comments Daniel on the workflow behind the scene. "Inside UE5, I used the Layered Materials workflow. I created my own Master Material and used RGBA mesh masks to blend between different detail layers of tiling materials, achieving high resolution texturing with a small memory footprint."
