This amazing prototype shows the capabilities of UE5 and can already be played.
A week ago, a Technical Artist known as volodXYZ revealed a stunning UE5-powered Superman game set in a realistic-looking city made with Houdini, Epic's City Sample project files, and VEX scripting. The artist's project looked awesome and acted as an excellent stress test for UE5 and Houdini.
volodXYZ's experiments with the engine inspired Lead Lighting and Unreal Generalist Tyson Butler-Boschma so much that he decided to further refine the idea and create an actual playable Superman game prototype, made using the same software. According to Tyson, this project was built as a test for what a future Superman game might be like in a large-scale modern city running on UE5. "I dream of a modern Superman game and, with the release of UE5, seemed like fertile ground for some experimentation with the amazing packages Epic has made available," commented the creator
The game uses Epic's The Matrix Awaken's City Sample and replaces the character with a flying superhero designed by Tyson using UE Marketplace assets. Please note, that this game is just a prototype and doesn't offer much in terms of content. The developer also notes that the game is incredibly heavy and it can be problematic to run it on lower-end PCs.
