Pavel Oliva presents one more awesome project powered by Geometry Nodes.
3D Artist and Game Developer Pavel Oliva, known to many as the creator behind the acclaimed Buildify library and countless other procedural projects, continues to impress us with his experiments with Blender's Geometry Nodes by showcasing a new fantastic setup.
Achieved with Blender 4.0, an upcoming version of Blender currently available in Beta, Pavel's new setup allows him to animate a rigged character and run simulations on demand, with the jumping robot-turret animation, created using this method, featuring "0 keyframes, just drivers". As noted by the author, the setup is still WIP, with many of its features being subject to change further down the line.
"This is how the movement works: it has all legs parented to a plane vertices, that I modify with geo nodes and body is parented to another object," commented the author. "So I can animate it procedurally and still have an option to do NLA stuff like with any other rig.
A couple of weeks ago, Pavel also presented an awesome tool for creating procedural wood platforms in Blender:
And prior to that, the author demonstrated great procedural tools for generating toadstools, ivy-covered bridges, and buildings, as well as shared a free Modular Desert Kit for Blender. You can check out all of these projects and more by visiting the creator's Twitter page.
