A Small LEGO World Made in Unreal Engine 5

Have a look at this cool project made by Tom Bentkowski.

Senior Lighting Artist at Respawn Entertainment Tom Bentkowski unveiled a new project made for Unreal Engine's Better Light Than Never competition. The artist has created an animation that depicts a cozy tiny LEGO world where LEGOs are alive and have their own way to party. According to the artist, the project was inspired by his daughter's table with various LEGO creations.

The project's description states that the environment was set up using Unreal Engine 5's Nanite and Lumen and Studio 2.0 and its library to construct and export LEGO sets to UE5. Additionally, the artist set up fingerprints and scratches on the LEGO bricks to add the story to them and make them look more realistic.

"For the lighting, besides Directional and Sky Light, I used a couple of Filling/Composing Lights around models just to help them shine. I established bloom to make the image softer and then the cameras with proper DoF settings did the magic," commented the artist on the project's lighting.
