Activision Blizzard Fired 800 People

This afternoon many developers at Activision Blizzard started getting pink slips. 8% of the staff will be cut.

The exact number of people affected by the cuts is unknown. It is known that Activision Blizzard has over 9600 employees at Activision, Blizzard, and King, so the rough estimate is 800. During the latest earnings call Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick mentioned that the company is consolidating and restructuring its business. The company is also lowering its expectations for 2019.

Kotaku has a lot of details about this story. The source claims that “the layoffs have affected Activision publishing, Blizzard, King, and some of Activision’s studios, including High Moon.” Most of the developers at Blizzard are safe, mostly non-game development teams were cut.

i love how a little group of passionate do more game than a 9600 employee studio. Sometime you got 3 person working on a game that end up blowing your mind . And there you got blizzard playing safe with so much employee , i feel like it was a fake job just to sink money.
