Dj2 Entertainment, which is developing the shows, has previously worked on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Video games adaptations have been on the rise lately, with Sony’s Uncharted, Paramount Plus's Halo, Netflix's BioShock, and Binge's System Shock. Another big company to join the race is Amazon, which signed a first-look deal with dj2 Entertainment developing Disco Elysium and Life is Strange shows.
Dj2 Entertainment co-produced the Sonic the Hedgehog movie and teamed up with Hazelight Studios to make It Takes Two film and TV series adaptations. The first-look deal means that if dj2 Entertainment completes the projects, Amazon Studio will be the first to see and stream them exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
"It is truly an honor to have Prime Video as our platform partner. A partner who truly supports us, as well as our grand ambitions, for telling the best international gaming stories with no limitations in how high we may collectively aim," said dj2's founder Dmitri M. Johnson.
Games adaptations have always been criticized by gamers. Will such a variety of shows and movies change the situation and bring them to the next level? Let's wait and find out.
