Whatever you, or the court, think about Apple's monetization policy, it seems to be working: the Sensor Tower analytics company published a new report, revealing that the App Store saw $52.5 billion in revenue in 2025, which is more than Google Play and Steam received combined.
App Store's revenue grew only 0.6% year over year, but it's enough to overshadow Google Play and Steam with their $30 billion and $11.7 billion, respectively. However, Steam showed impressively rapid growth last year at 13% (via 9to5mac).
When it comes to total downloads, the App Store's 7.8 billion (down 5.7%) lost to Google Play's 42.4 billion (down 7.3%), while Steam recorded 857 million downloads (up 6%).
The most-played game in the US will leave you unsurprised: Roblox dominated the market with nearly 450 million monthly active users.
