Apple Buys Its First Game Studio to Help It Grow

Sneaky Sasquatch just got a boost.

RAC7

Apple tries to develop its business in many different fields, and now it has taken an important step in gaming: it has acquired its first video game company, RAC7, the two-person studio behind Sneaky Sasquatch for the Apple Arcade subscription service.

“We love Sneaky Sasquatch and are excited that the 2-person RAC7 team has joined Apple to continue their work on it with us,” an Apple spokesperson told Digital Trends. “We will continue to deliver a great experience for Apple Arcade players with hundreds of games from many of the best game developers in the world.”

It seems Apple was enamored with RAC7 because it bought the small studio to help it grow its game more on Apple Arcade. However, the tech giant will continue to work with third-party studios to create games for the service.

This acquisition could mean the beginning of Apple's video game empire, although it would need to compete with huge players like Microsoft and Sony. Considering we got an AR headset from Apple, I wouldn't be surprised to see an Apple games console one day.
