Apple Is Reportedly Working on a Cheaper Version of Vision Pro

Only last week, Apple unveiled its Vision Pro headset which combines AR and VR capabilities and comes with a hefty price tag of $3,500, which was met with mixed reactions. Apparently, the company is wasting no time and is reportedly already developing a more affordable AR headset, potentially named Vision or Vision One.

As reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release the device in late 2025, nearly two years after the Vision Pro.

According to Gurman, the upcoming headset is anticipated to maintain key features found in the Vision Pro headset, such as eye and finger tracking. However, he predicts that Apple will equip the AR glasses with a less powerful processor and lower-resolution displays. Additionally, it is expected that the device will not include certain sensors, resulting in the loss of several functions.

While the exact price of the gadget remains uncertain, it is likely that it will be priced at least a few hundred dollars lower than the $3,499 Vision Pro.

Gurman also reports that Apple is simultaneously actively developing a second-generation Vision Pro headset, which will feature a faster processor. This move suggests that the company intends to pursue a two-product strategy for the device, similar to the standard iPhone and iPhone Pro models.

Earlier Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his perspective on Vision Pro, Quest's new VR competitor saying that the headset doesn't bring any "magical solutions" that Meta hasn't "already explored and thought of" and emphasizing that it is priced seven times higher than Meta's recently unveiled Quest 3 headset.
