Artist Recreates Lifelike Bubble Physics in Houdini Based on Wētā's Research
Check out a bubble solver by Pavel Morozov.
Houdini FX artist Pavel Morozov showcased a striking setup that recreates realistic bubble movement with great detail.
The simulation runs on the artist's own custom solver, built in Houdini and based on Wētā FX's documentation on bubble dynamics, with inspiration drawn from the work of Houdini FX Artist Alexander Vasilenko, who has been working on a subsurface bubble solver featuring two-way coupling between the bubbles and the surrounding water and implementing Wētā FX's research findings.
Morozov has also been working on a FLIP solver with GPU support and showcasing his amazing work made in Houdini:
Artists Fred Bello and Moisè Asta also shared their work based on Wētā's research: Bello showcased RiverFX, a Lagrangian Houdini water simulation and Asta demonstrated a simulation of Lagrangian waves on a water surface with FLIP:
