Artist Shows Off Their Procedurally Animated Lizard Evolution

Just a month can turn a spider into a lizard.

Here is game development in action: an artist known as Waabs on Reddit shared their artistic evolution on a procedurally animated lizard. In one month, they managed to turn a blocky mass that looked more like a spider into a naturally moving stylized lizard.

Procedural animation is fascinating as it is more difficult to set up, but once it's done, you can apply it to other objects and receive immediate realistic results. This lizard motion is still a project in progress, so expect to see even more progress in Waabs's future updates.

If you want to know how Waabs figured it out, check out the Step by Step Procedural Animation tutorial, 7 Steps to Walk on the Walls, and the Bonehead Procedural Animation article.

The lizard is likely a part of the artist's puzzle game in development. You can find out more on Reddit.
