Marc-Alexis Coté was offered a leadership post in the company's new subsidiary but declined the offer.

Assassin's Creed franchise Lead Marc-Alexis Coté has reportedly left Ubisoft. In an internal note to its employees sent on Tuesday, the company expressed its gratitude to Coté for his contribution to the creation of the franchise.

Recently, Ubisoft launched Vantage Studios, a new subsidiary founded in collaboration with Tencent, which will be responsible for three of Ubisoft's video game franchises, namely Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. According to a report, Coté was offered a leadership position at the new studio but rejected the offer. "While we are disappointed by his decision, we understand and respect that MAC had his own expectations and priorities related to Vantage Studios' creation and future," Vantage leaders Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes shared in an email to staff. "Unfortunately, despite being offered several opportunities to be part of the leadership team shaping our strategic direction, MAC respectfully declined and decided to look to start his next chapter elsewhere."

Marc-Alexis Coté joined Ubisoft in 2005 and had a long and diverse career at the company. He worked on Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and numerous titles of the Assassin's Creed franchise, developing their design, leading production, and integrating gameplay systems. Later, he proceeded to define the creative vision for the series' games, becoming in March 2022 a Vice-President and Executive Producer to lead the overall strategy for the entire franchise.

Earlier, Marc-Alexis Côté, while being VP and Executive Producer, shared an interesting observation that half of the Assassin's Creed Shadows development team were juniors.
