Atomic Heart Devs Have Spent 633,600 Hours Working on the Game

Atomic Heart developer, Mundfish, revealed that the team has spent approximately 633,600 hours working on the title and shared a new screenshot depicting the protagonist of the game.

Mundfish, the developer of the upcoming action RPG Atomic Heart, has shared new details on the game and its development process that has been following since its inception, which seems to have been remarkably long and ambitious.

In a Telegram post, the developers revealed that over the five years of creating the shooter, the Mundfish team has grown to 120 people. They've also calculated that the development of the title has taken more than 630,000 hours of work.

"If we calculate that during all 5 years, not all 120 people always worked [on the game], but only half of them, let's say 60, it turns out interesting: 60 people, 22 working days a month, 8 hours a day, 12 months a year for 5 years! This gives a total of 633,600 hours," the developers wrote. "Six hundred and thirty-three thousand hours of game development – this gives the output of several tens of hours of gameplay. Just a few tens of hours in five years."

In the next post, probably joking, Mundfish added that this result should be multiplied by two as the team actually worked on the game for 16 hours a day. So, apparently, the title has received a great work behind it.

The developers also published a screenshot from the game depicting the protagonist of the title, KGB agent, Major Nechaev.

Atomic Heart was first revealed in 2018, and since then, with each new gameplay footage, we could observe much progress the title has undergone.

The game is an action RPG that takes place in an alternate "retro-future" timeline of the 1950s in the Soviet Union. Players will take on the role of an unstable KGB agent who is sent to investigate a facility that has gone dark. According to the reveal trailer, the soundtrack for Atomic Heart is written by Mick Gordon, the composer behind DOOM and DOOM Eternal.

The game will come out for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One and is slated for release in Q3/Q4 2022.

After all that work - and in light of recent industry trends that we all hate... this title better knock it out of the park without months of updates to make it work. Hell hath no fury as great as gamers right now. We will bankrupt your ass if you #$% with us these days.
That being said... I am very hopeful for this title. I've been waiting for years and I'm growing impatient.
