The update adds a new home screen and starter tutorial, new tools for authoring interactive presentations, a global search system, and more.
Autodesk has released Maya 2022.1, the latest version of their 3D modeling and animation software. With the new update, Maya became more accessible than ever before with a new onboarding experience, interactive tutorials, and a comprehensive search tool to quickly find what you’re looking for.
What's new?
- Search feature: The new Search feature saves you time by making it easier to find tools, commands, and scene objects simply by typing the name into a text field. The search engine also uses keyword matches to return results related to the search. You can even add your own keywords to tools and commands, making it easier to customize workflows.
- Interactive tutorials: Learn the basics of Maya with a new gamified interactive experience. The Interactive Basics tutorial, guided by virtual instructor Mayabot, is pre-loaded in Maya and helps you get up to speed on the basics of 3D and Maya’s UI, including navigating a scene, and moving, rotating, and scaling objects.
- Return of Viewcube: The Viewcube is back! The Viewcube is an on-screen 3D navigation element that lets you quickly switch between scene views and provides feedback about the current camera view in relation to the 3D scene.
- Deformer updates: New falloffs, as well as options for Deformer falloff color ramps have been added to the Maya deformation arsenal.
