Blender shared the interim results for its fundraiser project, saying that during the end-of-year campaign that ran last month, it received over 27,000 one-time donations, which is ten times larger than a regular monthly amount.
The software developer thanked everyone who participated in the project by donating, starting a Development Fund membership, or keeping one active.
Blender is a free and open-source software, allowing for the creation of high-quality 3D works, such as the Oscar-winning animated film Flow. As part of the 2026 fundraising project, the software creators are asking supporters to contribute a €5 donation or help spread the word to those who may be able to support the campaign. "If every active Blender user contributes €5 this month, Blender Foundation would meet its entire yearly funding goal for 2026," the project's announcement reads.
Recently, Blender 5.0, released in November, received its first corrective update, addressing 132 issues.
