Blender 5.0 Has Arrived

A major release featuring a revamped color management pipeline, redesigned Geometry Nodes, new storyboarding tools, 588 bug fixes, and so much more.

Although only a few months have passed since Blender 4.5 was released, Blender's developers have remained highly productive and, despite some setbacks, have delivered another huge update filled with new features and long-awaited responses to community feedback from the past several years.

Blender 5.0 introduces a completely overhauled color management pipeline that natively supports wide-gamut and HDR color spaces. ACES 1.3 and 2.0 workflows have long been of great interest to the community, and they're finally here, complete with official documentation from the Blender team to help you get started.

Geometry Nodes now feature redesigned socket shapes, new bundle and closure socket types, and Volume Grid and SDF nodes. Storytellers will find the new Storyboarding template especially useful, and artists deeper into their projects may take advantage of the new Array and Scatter on Surface modifiers, the updated UV Sync workflow, or the extensive animation and rigging improvements.

Alongside the full strength of Compositor's new asset shelf, filled with built-in effects, we can't overlook features like accurate subsurface scattering, thin-film iridescence for metals, and production-ready Adaptive Subdivision in Cycles.

Blender 5.0 also brings motion blur support for Grease Pencil, updates to the Sky Texture node, interface refinements and improved accessibility, and much more, including 588 bugs fixed. For a full overview of everything new, click here.
