Call of Duty fans might be happy to learn that they'll get a Black Ops game from Treyarch next year.

Well, at least that's what the latest report states. According to Windows Central, sources familiar with Activision's plans say Call of Duty 2024 will be set during the Gulf War, a conflict between Iraq and a coalition led by the US from 1990 to 1991.

Black Ops 6 will allegedly move to traditional military technology and Black Ops gadgets, stepping away from the current tech of Modern Warfare. It will "attempt to explore a nuanced narrative of the Gulf War, with a critical focus on different participants within the conflict. It will dovetail into the end of the Cold War era, and explore some of the consequences therein."

Windows Central also states that Activision is planning a large pre-order early access bonus for the game, with several days for the base game and possibly weeks for access to other modes.

Previously, Insider Gaming shared some more information about Black Ops 6, saying that it will feature maps from the Black Ops games, including Grind and WMD. This strategy of bringing back old maps is supposed to reduce development time for the team and make players feel nostalgic.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, or whatever it ends up being called, should be out in late fall or early winter 2024.
