Call of Duty Devs Got Hurt When Christopher Judge Joked About the Game's Length

Some say that the joke was the highlight of the event, while others think it was disrespectful.

Once again, Christopher Judge's performance at The Game Awards 2023 stood out as a highlight. Known for his role as Kratos in God of War and God of War Ragnarök, Judge jokingly compared his eight-minute TGA speech last year to the length of the story campaign in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, making the audience laugh.

Well, it seems like the joke did not sit well with some current and former Call of Duty developers, who criticized Judge on social media for his comments. Some users also found the joke inappropriate, with one editor from Windows Central noting that it may have been insulting to the hardworking developers behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III because they put so much effort into creating a game in 16 months, which was severely criticized for it.

"Honestly, as COD developers, we've heard way worse. But we don't expect it from a peer, at an event that supposed to be celebrating this years achievements in gaming. Especially with all the information that was leaked about its development," wrote Darcy Sandall on Twitter (and deleted it later).

Despite the backlash, the majority of social media users appeared to support Judge, with some saying that it was the most memorable moment of The Game Awards 2023.

What do you think about the whole situation? Did you find the joke funny or was it disrespectful to the developers behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III?
