With the recent highly intelligent technology, it's getting harder and harder to see if the photo is real, or if it's just another deepfake, which is confusing and sometimes might even wreak havoc among people.

To eliminate this problem, Canon, Nikon, and Sony decided to join forces and launch a new technology that will help photographers with the authentication of a photo's origins.

These giants will reportedly introduce a new technology that allows photographers to embed digital signatures directly into their images using the camera itself. These digital signatures will include the photographer's name, as well as the date, time, and location the image was taken. A free web-based application called Verify has been developed by a global alliance of media outlets, camera manufacturers, and technology companies to ensure the authenticity of these signatures, making it easy for photographers to authenticate them. For example, if a picture was made by AI, Verify will inform you of "No Content Credentials".

The companies, unfortunately, haven't shared specific details so far. Sony provided some clarity, saying that firmware updates for its professional cameras will be released in the spring, but without mentioning the exact date or the camera models that will receive these updates.

Canon has also committed to introducing image authentication on its pro bodies this year, but without providing many dates. On the other hand, Nikon has shared that this feature will be implemented on all its mirrorless cameras.

Well, hopefully we will hear more about this new tecnology in the coming months.
