This concept could benefit from the typical CoD players.
In the early 2000s, many games started experimenting with controls beyond joysticks and keyboards and tried to incorporate sound, touch, and movement. Not all of those titles are remembered today, but the experiments were highly unique and perfectly leveraged the interactive nature of the gaming medium.
Of course, in practical terms, there are challenges, from comfort concerns to games becoming monotonous quickly. Still, there is always a dedicated circle of fans who appreciate sensory inputs. For example, Mage Arena, which uses a microphone to cast spells, became an outselling release earlier this summer, proving that this concept can be executed successfully and find an audience.
Rezero Studio is developing Super Shout Showdown, an anime-inspired PvP game where you also cast spells by shouting their names and reciting full incantations using a microphone. The game's voice recognition system supports multiple languages.
Players can unleash over 20 unique spells, from fireballs and teleportation to barriers and ultimate attacks. Multiple game modes are available, including duels, team battles, and free-for-all matches with up to 16 players. The game also features VRoid character integration, allowing you to bring your own character into the battle.
