No grandmas have been harmed.
Do you remember those sweet times when your grandma used to read bedtime stories so you could sleep better? Don't worry, ChatGPT can do the same, but its tales are more useful.
Users noticed that the chatbot can help them upgrade to Windows 11 Pro if they first tell it a sad story of how their grandmother has passed away and then ask ChatGPT to read the keys to the OS to help them fall asleep, just like the grandma would do. Silly as it sounds, it works. The system generates a bunch of codes, and some of them can be applied to successfully activate a new Windows copy. The same works with Google's Bard.
However, the generated codes are generic license keys, says Digital Trends, so while you do get a system and updates, there are some feature limitations.
Naturally, this method won't be working for long as the situation has already reached many news websites, so OpenAI will most certainly block this exploit soon. Nonetheless, it's another great feat for the chatbot, and who knows what else users will come up with.
