Edward Ureña showcased a new project.
3D Generalist Edward Ureña showcased a new Blender rig focusing on the part of a character's face – a mouth, captivating the viewers' attention with a fresh approach to facial animation.
Rather than showcasing a full character's face, the artist isolated and refined the mouth area, emphasizing the vividness of the emotions. This unusual approach was inspired by a new technique used in Win or Lose, Pixar's animated series, which Pixar Producer David Lally showcased in a Twitter post. According to this method, the animators could change the position of the mouth, nose, and ears, place them anywhere on the character's face, and alter their size.
This approach allows for more expressive visualizations:
Edward Ureña crafted the rig using Rig Creator, a beta version add-on made by the artist. This add-on provides a base rig and allows you to position the bones to match the character's body and automatically apply weights.
Before, the artist unveiled a collaborative project made with 3D Character Artist Adriano Delfino paying tribute to the Mexican parody superhero El Chapulín Colorado (The Red Grasshopper) from the eponymous TV comedy series:
