Check Out This Fantastic Ladybug Macro 3D Gaussian Splat
Dany Bittel presented his new work.
Artist Dany Bittel, renowned for creating fascinating Gaussian splats of insects, shared a new fantastic work, this time showcasing a ladybug in flight.
The artist explained that the bug was photographed from 116 perspectives, each with 16 focus-stacked images. Motion blur was added in post-processing.
"A Gaussian splat is essentially a bunch of blurry ellipsoids. Each one has a view-dependent color, using a process similar to training an AI model, you can optimize until it converges to the photos you feed in. The result is a sort of 3D photograph that can be viewed freely from any angle," Dany explains.
