Get A Closer Look At This Red Firebug Macro 3D Gaussian Splat

A new fantastic project from Dany Bittel.

Dany Bittel has opened the door for artists to explore 3D Gaussian Splatting combined with macro photography with his awesome bumblebee, and now returned with a new project focused on the European Firebug.

This one was shot using 111 perspectives and 16 focus-stacked images, captured at f/20 with a 90mm lens.

"The red firebug is usually encountered in droves. Think of them as the little garbage men of the garden. They feed on fallen seeds, dead insects, and plant debris. They're harmless, don't bite or sting, and unlike stink bugs, they don't smell either", shared Dany.

You can explore this firebug on SuperSplat, an advanced browser-based editor for manipulating and optimizing 3D Gaussian Splats by Will Eastcott. It's free and open-source and lets you publish your splats online, explore community creations, and much more.
