Zoom In On This Chafer Beetle Created With 3D Gaussian Splatting

Yet another beautiful macro splat.

It seems there's a growing trend among artists demonstrating that 3D Gaussian Splatting can be perfectly combined with macro photography, as recently shown by Dany Bittel's amazing bumblebee scan.

This beetle was created using the DISC3D scanner and reconstructed with OpenSplat by Michael Heethoff, all within a compact 2.69MB file. Take a closer look to see how the soft, spiky, and fluffy textures have been captured with incredible detail by clicking this link.
