Check Out This Great 3D Game Level Set Up in Unreal Engine 5

The author utilized Geometry Script to generate the rough terrain.

Have a look at this impressive game-level-like 3D environment created by Developer and Unreal Engine enthusiast known as Toyojiro utilizing Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. According to the creator, the rugged terrain was generated using Geometry Script, a robust plug-in for modifying mesh geometry in UE5, medium-sized rocks were converted into Static Mesh and placed as instances, and a self-made scattering tool was employed to distribute plants and small rocks throughout the scene.

"I think it's very important to clearly define the player route in an action game, but when it comes to creating it by combining existing assets, there are certain patterns that just aren't possible," commented the creator. "So, this time, I used Geometry Script, and it had the advantage of being able to freely change the route shape and being able to do trial and error very quickly, so I was able to work quite efficiently."

And here are some of the earlier demos shared by Toyojiro, you can check out more by clicking this link:

Previously, the developer also shared a look at a neat UE5-powered setup that implemented animation switching according to point attributes and allowed one to make the character climb on any overhang or terrain configuration:

For those unaware, Geometry Script is an Unreal Engine plug-in containing a set of Function Libraries that provide the ability to generate and edit mesh geometry via Blueprints and Python.

Geometry Script UFunctions and Blueprint Nodes operate on UDynamicMesh objects, which are objects created using the FDynamicMesh3 C++ triangle mesh data structure. This is the same data structure used by the Geometry Processing Plugin and Modeling Editor Mode.

Geometry Script can be used in Editor Utility Widgets and Asset Actions to create custom mesh analysis/processing /editing tools. It can also be used in Actor Blueprints to create "procedural objects" and implement complex geometric queries. Attached below are some great tutorials that will help you get started with Geometry Script:
