Check Out This Indie Hand-Painted Adventure Game That Looks 3D But Isn't

Bridgebourn is an inspiring exploration of an ever-changing world that has a demo on Steam.

Bridgebourn from Bamboo's Bazaar is a charming semi-open world ARPG created in a vibrant hand-painted style. The game is in development, and the release date has not been disclosed yet, but you can already try a demo on Steam.

The game features a story-rich narrative, where you assume the role of an adventurer wandering with your group of friends and exploring the wilderness of Fadelands, dungeons, woods, and more. The world is infused with magic – acquire magical loot while exploring its expanses, battle foes with custom spells, and experiment with powerful reactions by combining abilities. As the developer puts it, Bridgebourn focuses on modern nostalgia, immersive exploration, and a distinct hand-painted art style with fresh game mechanics.

Bridgebourn's world never stays the same – it features dynamic weather and shifting environmental factors, which influence the journey. Secrets and passageways open and close, abilities and enemies might grow stronger, and new items might appear in the places you already explored.

The developer shared that the game's world is actually 2D, even though it appears three-dimensional: the camera shifts from orthographic to perspective view. According to the creator, the game started as an isometric top-down, and then the dev added a sky simulated with a parallax effect. Take a sneak peek at the development process:

You can play in a single-player mode, local co-op, or through Steam Remote Play.
