Check Out This New Sketch-Based Retopology Tool For Blender
Rayen Bahri's solution automatically generates matching quad topology.
Once again, someone is tackling the tedious problem of retopology. Rayen Bahri is building a pen-like tool that lets you sketch a shape in a few strokes and automatically generates matching quad topology. The strokes behave like vector paths, similar to Adobe Illustrator, but in 3D.
According to the developer, the idea is inspired by an older SIGGRAPH paper, likely Sketch-Based Generation and Editing of Quad Meshes. For now, it's just an experiment with no release date. If you'd like to support the development, you can do so by joining Rayen's Patreon.
The idea behind this isn't new, tools like RetopoFlow and TopoGun already exist, but it could still succeed if it's priced more affordably than existing options. If you're looking to streamline topology workflows, there have been a few newer tools in development recently. Mohsan Alvi's Tractive has entered open beta, and Sparseal has announced CozyBlanket Pro. Both are advertised as AI-driven, intending to handle tasks where human creativity isn't required.
