From infant to adult and back in mere seconds.
3D Animator and arguably one of the most renowned Character Artists Chris Jones has recently changed his modus operandi from releasing a single mind-blowing project every six months to sharing a whole series of showcases within just a few weeks.
In one of his most recent showcases, the maestro revealed an astonishing aging/de-aging setup that can transform a character model from an infant to a 20-year-old adult and back within seconds. Powered by Blender, the setup relies on a single shape key, along with "some bones, non-linear with action constraints on the bones, and a driver on the shape key." To match the rig to the changing character model, Chris weighted the mesh to the rig.
The best part is, the "age proportion control" system is commercially available and can be accessed and experimented with over here.

Back in June, Chris also blew our minds with his incomprehensibly complex and detailed human hand rig, made using Krita, DaVinci Resolve, Blender, and the latter's Geometry Nodes without any photos, scans, or motion capture.
And prior to that, the creator unveiled Glitter, a hyperrealistic female face animation crafted using Blender and Krita.
