Hothifa Smair's procedural city generator for Blender has been updated to version 1.5.
Technical Artist Hothifa Smair has released iCity 1.5, an updated version of his Geometry Nodes-powered procedural cityscape generator for Blender, introducing a host of new features and improvements designed to help you customize your digital metropolises even further.
The highlight of the release is the upgraded version of the tool's road system, which now lets you convert roads into highways and features dedicated intersection presets for highways with customizable settings. You can now control road attributes and textures, as well as set up custom road lane markings and paint patterns. Additionally, the update introduces a new custom island object that supports complex integrations with roads and is fully compatible with highway configurations.
iCity 1.5 also features a new export system that runs exports in the background, independent of the active .blend file, and supports multiple parallel exports with real-time status tracking. It also adds support for GLB/GLTF, FBX, and USD export formats, along with options to convert instances to mesh before export and to join meshes based on shared mesh data.
Other enhancements include:
- New tools to generate and modify terrain within the iCity environment.
- Added advanced settings for park blocks and green area blocks.
- Enhanced control over layout, density, and visual variety.
- Improved UV mapping and texture resolution handling.
- Better performance and stability throughout the add-on.
