The family of open-world survival games is welcoming a new member. Indie game studio Tarock Interactive has just announced its latest project crafted with Unreal Engine 5, Lost Legions.
Lost Legions presents an intriguing intersection of history and gaming, inviting you to step into the shoes of a Roman soldier stranded in the Teutoburg Forest. This historical exploration and survival game offers an immersive experience, enticing you to craft, build, explore, and fight in a world steeped in history.

Set in the aftermath of the Varian disaster, Lost Legions brings the Teutoburg Forest to life. This isn't just a game map; it's a hand-crafted representation of the German region, complete with various biomes housing unique animals, resources, and mysteries waiting to be solved.
Survival is central to the gameplay. Following a devastating Germanic ambush, you — who can play alone or with up to three friends — must learn to survive with the resources you gather from your surroundings. The crafting system is intuitive, allowing you to create weapons, armor, tools, and defenses from what you find.

But Lost Legions is more than a survival game. It's a journey into a deep and intricate storyline. Each character, from the playable ones to the soldiers and barbarians, has a backstory waiting to be discovered. The narrative gradually unfolds, revealing a world where appearances can be deceiving.
Key features of Lost Legions include:
- Large, hand-crafted world with multiple biomes, each with unique animals, resources and challenges to discover.
- Play alone or with up to 3 other players on player-hosted servers.
- An equipment based combat that rewards careful preparation and skill. Utilize various weapons with unique attacks, different blocking styles, ranged combat, thrown weapons, dodges and blocks to fight your enemies.
- Intuitive crafting where recipes are discovered by salvaging the broken equipment left behind after the fateful battle.
- Flexible building system. Build a small shelter or an entire war camp, claim enemy villages and rebuild them to your image.
- Save and recruit NPC legionaries and send them out to gather resources for you or find points of interest while you do what’s fun for you.
- Engrossing story about betrayal and survival that touches on the topics of colonialism and imperialism.
