Create Production-Quality Forest Environments From Scratch In UE5.6

Under the guidance of Michael Gerard, you'll learn every stage of the workflow.

Michael Gerard, whose environment art has been featured on our site many times, is offering an in-depth course on creating a complete birch forest environment from scratch.

Spanning 57 hours of step-by-step instruction with English subtitles, Into the Forest covers the entire production pipeline, from building a full tree library and vegetation assets in SpeedTree to assembling the final scene using the latest tools in Unreal Engine. Along the way, you'll learn how to create textures with Quixel Mixer, generate large-scale background terrain with Gaea, and develop all the shaders needed to achieve a production-quality environment.

The course concludes with cinematic 4K renders created using Unreal Engine's Movie Render Queue.

Here's the full list of chapters:

  1. Aspen Trees (Complete Creation - SpeedTree 10) - (10h11);
  2. Bark & Foliage Advanced Shader (UE5.6) - (4h26);
  3. Ground Foliage (Complete Creation - SpeedTree 10) - (3h32);
