Crimson Desert Will Not Have Microtransactions, Dev Pearl Abyss Says
"This is made to be a premium experience."
Pearl Abyss
Crimson Desert, the upcoming open-world action-adventure, will not feature a microtransaction shop, the game's developer says.
In a recent interview with Dropped Frames (via Okami), Pearl Abyss, the studio behind the title, outlined its monetization approach. Director of Marketing & PR Will Powers said, "This is made to be a premium experience that you buy and you enjoy the world and not something for microtransactions." He then stated, "This is a premium experience, that is the transaction, full stop."
Pearl Abyss
First announced in 2019, with gameplay trailers and demos sharing a sneak peek at the title, Crimson Desert, which recently has gone gold, is a fantasy adventure set on a mysterious continent of Pywel. As the protagonist Greymane Kliff, you explore uncharted lands, fight threats that appear in your way, and uncover the wonders of that beautiful world.
The game's visuals are powered by the developers' proprietary technology, the BlackSpace Engine, allowing for rendering expansive open worlds with incredible detail.

The game is scheduled for March 20.
