Featuring 3D animation and rendering systems, as well as serialization and the integration of Jolt Physics.
Game Developer Tiernan Watson, the creator of several Tomb Raider fan projects, has unveiled a new one aimed at developing and playing modern Tomb Raider worlds. Named TombForge, this custom game engine is built in C++ and OpenGL and is capable of running 3D levels.
TombForge can use PBR materials and features a robust 3D animation system with root motion support, currently accommodating up to 127 bones. The integration of the Jolt Physics SDK provides the engine with a powerful physics system. There's also the editor offering specialized tools for managing different asset types, and a fully functional audio system for playing sounds during gameplay.
