A little magic at CEDEC.
The CEDEC conference for computer entertainment developers, which took place in Japan, is full of inspiring talks and demos. One notable demonstration attendees could see this year was a cute 3D slime-like creature projection, which could be touched.
As explained by the X/Twitter user pafuhana1213, when you put your hand on the blob, you feel its texture via ultrasonic waves. It also reacts to the touch and changes its form, as you can see in the video below.
Other creators have tried to link the digital and physical worlds before: for example, in LED Tetris by PikaPikaらいと and ウダサン's Breakout game variation.
