Take a look at this adorable Rowlet from Pokémon sitting on a log in a fairy tale forest. No, this isn't an illustration (well, not quite), it's a 3D model turned into a digital painting by an artist known as happeh.
The base of the work was done in Blender, using camera depth of field and a Kuwahara node in compositing, which was then painted over in Photoshop to achieve this nice painterly feeling.
