Here's a demonstration of Unreal's new Geometry Script plug-in's capabilities.
Gameplay and AI Programmer Elhoussine Mehnik has demonstrated a great new series of projects, in which the author showed some real-time mesh-cutting mechanics in Unreal Engine 5. In case you missed it, recently, Epic Games released Geometry Script, a new Unreal Engine plug-in containing a set of Function Libraries that provide the ability to generate and edit mesh geometry via Blueprints and Python. The tool enables dynamic mesh editing, slicing, applying Boolean operations to your meshes, etc.
Using this plug-in, the artist has set up various mechanics that allow him to make any type of hole in a mesh. According to Elhoussine, this series of projects serves only as a tech demo and is not made for any specific game.
