Dead Space Creator Retires After 35 Years in Game Development
Farewell, Glen Schofield.
Visceral Games
Glen Schofield, the man who brought Dead Space to the world, has announced his retirement after 35 years in the game development field.
"The past couple of decades have been some of the greatest times in video games," he said. "Some of the best games have come out over these times, some of the greatest talent in the world I've been able to work with. I thank you all. I had a front row seat to one of the greatest creative explosions in history, I think."
Schofield has left a significant mark on the gaming world in the form of Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol, several Call of Duty games, and other projects that players will remember for a long time.
In his video message, he thanked his family, fans, Electronic Arts, and Activision and wished the new generation of developers luck.
"I know times are tough right now, but the future ahead is really, really bright."
While he couldn't convince EA to develop Dead Space 4, his influence might one day make another spiritual successor possible.
