Demon's Souls Remake Performance Reportedly Hits 40-50 FPS On PS5 Emulator
Just earlier this month, it was barely managing to run at 1-2 FPS.
PlayStation emulation is notoriously difficult, and we're still not quite at the perfect state with PS3 and PS4 emulators, yet something must have been in the water this year, because PS5 emulation has been advancing at an incredible pace. Back in July, we reported on early progress in PS5 emulation, covering SharpEmu and KytyPS5. At the time, one of them could already run a 2D game and display the startup screen of Demon's Souls Remake. Fast-forward to now, and the game is reportedly running at 40-50 FPS, seemingly with accurate graphics.
Of course, what you see above is just a three-minute video, and we don't know if the rest of the game runs as smoothly as it does here. Still, it's an impressive watch. The machine used in the demonstration is equipped with an RTX 5090 and a Core i9-14900K.
And the craziest part is how quickly this progress was made: KytyPS5 was running Demon's Souls Remake at something like 1-2 FPS during gameplay at the beginning of September.
Needless to say, this is a major milestone for KytyPS5. And if PS5 emulation keeps advancing like this, who knows, we might even start talking about GTA 6 running on an emulator before its official PC release.
But for now, that's nothing more than a fun idea to imagine. However, Marvel's Wolverine can apparently already reach its main menu through KytyPS5 on PC:
