Blizzard said that their latest title is "the biggest launch in the franchise history" and revealed that the game has had over 10 million installs.
Diablo Immortal, the recently released free-to-play video game in the Diablo series, has become "the biggest launch in franchise history", the developers announced on Twitter.
Blizzard revealed that the game has been installed more than 10 million times across iOS, Android, and PC in just a week after its launch.
However, it's worth noting that Diablo Immortal is the first and the only free-to-play game in the Diablo series, while other titles in the franchise are being sold at full price.
Since its release, Diablo Immortal has had a pretty controversial reception: while players praise the game for its fun gameplay which stands out from other titles in the series, it still gets a wide criticism for being full of microtransactions. For instance, one report claims that if you want to fully upgrade your character, you'll have to spend more than $100,000.
While reviewing the game, many players cited its "pay-to-win" model, and currently, the game has a 0.4 score on Metacritic which makes Diablo Immortal the worst-rated Blizzard title on the website (excluding Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft – The Witchwood for iOS that scored 0.1, although this is an expansion and not a separate game).
