EA Does Not Plan to Discontinue Support for Battlefield 2042

Electronic Arts denied the claim that Battlefield 2042's DLC is being developed by a "skeleton crew", insisting that a "significant team" is working on improving and enhancing the game.

During the recent GrubbSnax Giant Bomb show, journalist Jeff Grubb said that DICE has already started pre-production of the next Battlefield and wants to shift all its efforts to the upcoming game as soon as possible. He also claimed that in this regard, Battlefield 2042 is no longer a priority for the company.

"This game is basically down to a skeleton crew," Grubb said. "It’s down to like the bare bones and those people are specifically just working on the promised additional seasons that the game needs to meet the requirements of the high-end version that it sold."

Grubb stated that the remaining team has been tasked with releasing four seasons of live service content "the fastest and cheapest way it possibly can" while the "real core crew" has already moved on to developing the next Battlefield game.

However, later Grubb released a short statement from EA in which the publisher denied his sources' claims, citing a roadmap unveiled at the end of May.

"This is untrue. There is a significant team across studios focused on evolving and improving the Battlefield 2042 experience for our players, and at the heart of that is our team at DICE," EA wrote. "We are committed to the future of Battlefield 2042 and our areas of focus for the game, based on what we have heard from our players, was laid out in our recent Development Update that you can view here."

Grubb acknowledged EA's statement on Twitter, adding that if you hear two conflicting reports, you should "look for the space where both things are true."
